Christina Aguilera, Maroon 5′s ‘Moves Like Jagger’: Her Greatest Collabo?

Christina Aguilera and Maroon 5 have struck gold with their sexy, chart-topping throwback jam, “Moves Like Jagger.” The song, which features the vocal stylings of Xtina and her “The Voice” co-judge, Adam Levine, has really taken the world by storm. This week marks its fourth week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

“The first time I heard the song I loved it,” Aguilera told MTV News in a statement. “The song has elements from the ’60s and ’70s, yet is so current and unique.” And it seems that audiences and fellow artists agree. Up-and-coming MC Mac Miller has remixed the track, proving that the song has some legs and isn’t going anywhere.

Track: “Lady Marmalade”

When it dropped back in 2001 (yes, a decade ago!), the idea that five divas of that magnitude could all appear together on one song felt like an impossible feat. Well, whatever catnip they used to get these feisty pop felines into the same studio worked. The song hit the top of the charts and was the unofficial theme song for the “Moulin Rogue!” soundtrack.

The two were riding the Latin music wave when this song was dropped in 2001. Both stars’ careers were at a peak and the pop firepower the two brought to the song was enough to get people to listen, even if it hasn’t held up much over time.

In one of the most unexpected phases of Christina’s career, in 2002 she literally got dirty with the rapper on the track. Emancipating herself from the nice girl pop shackles she’d been confined to, Aguilera broke free of her girl-next-door image and proved that she can play just as, well, dirty as the next pop star.

Christina and Kim once again worked together in 2003 on the girl-power anthem. A thumping beat, Aguilera’s powerhouse voice, feisty lyrics and Kim’s always sassy rhymes made for a perfect storm of pop perfection.

Track: “WooHoo”
Appeared With: Nicki Minaj
Having already worked with Lil Kim, Aguilera called on Nicki in 2010 for the manic, euphemism-filled song. Listen to the song and you’ll quickly realize what a woohoo is.
