Howard Stern, a shock jock who is a new co-judge “America’s Got Talent,” which airs on their show’s network, NBC, appeared to put the Maroon 5 singer on the spot by asking him about the issue during a recent interview on his X-rated Sirius XM radio show.

“This is a sensitive subject with women, but why do you think she’s got so heavy?” Stern said. “She used to be so (expletive) hot. What is that? And her clothes are too tight. Am I right or am I wrong with this, Adam?”

“Clothes are tight. She likes to wear tight clothes,” Levine answered. “She clearly likes to talk about being comfortable with being a woman and snapping her fingers and doing the whole thing.”

“When you’re a plus-size woman, you can’t wear the tight clothes anymore,” Stern said.

“I wouldn’t go that far, actually,” Levine replied.

“She’s over a size 12. Adam, what size is she?” Stern asked.

“I’m keeping my (expletive) mouth shut,” Levine said.

Aguilera, 31, has not commented about the remarks. The singer appeared thinner and more toned when she was a teenager, especially in music videos for her 2002 single “Dirrty” (watch here – warning: Contains explicit material) and her 1999 hits “Genie in a Bottle” and “What a Girl Wants.” She has put on some weight in recent years, especially following her 2010 divorce from Jordan Bratman, and has defended her curvier figure.

“I’m very confident in my body,” Aquilera said during NBC’s panel for “The Voice” at the Television Critics Association Winter Session in January. “I think my video works over the years have spoken to that… I’ve been no stranger to being very comfortable in my own skin.”

Aguilera has also said that her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, approves of her figure.

“The Voice,” NBC’s hit singing contest series, is on its second season. Aguilera and Levine serve as mentors and judges alongside Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton.
