A 9-months-pregnant Jessica Simpson has responded to criticism for wearing platform high heeled shoes earlier this week.
On Twitter Thursday, the 31-year-old singer posted a photo of herself along the California coast and made a special note of her footwear.
“We are loving Laguna…,” wrote Simpson on the caption of the photo. “And yes, I’m wearing flip flops!”
The photo reveals heavily pregnant Simpson standing with her hands around her stomach enjoying the scenery in a form-fitting black dress, sunglasses, and flip flops.
The singer is not phased by the additional weight her pregnancy has added to her body when it comes to footwear. Simpson often wears high heels despite her pregnancy, and was most recently photographed in sky-high brown peep toe shoes in Santa Barbara, Calif., Saturday.
“I’m probably going to deliver my baby in these [heels],” Simpson joked speaking to Us Weekly.

She is engaged to NFL star Eric Johnson and due to give birth any day now.
Simpson is not the only celebrity known to wear stiletto shoes while pregnant. Beyonce often wore high-heeled shoes while pregnant with Blue Ivy. Also spotted wearing the height-enhancing shoes while expecting have included Kourtney Kardashian, Natalie Portman, and Jennifer Garner, just to name a few.
In light of the controversy Simpson stirred with her platform heels, blogger Shannon Drewniak wrote, “I think she looks amazing as always, regardless of the heels, to each her own,” on Us Weekly’s website. “What works for some isn’t necessarily going to work for others. Get over it!”
Simpson loves high heeled shoes so much that she has her own eponymous fashion line of shoes. With her fashion design skills, Simpson will appear on NBC’s “Fashion Star,” which premieres Tuesday, March 13. The show also sees fashion mogul Nicole Richie and supermodel Elle Macpherson.
