Justin Bieber Brings 'Believe' Tour to Rose Garden

Set your comments to stun, friends. The kids might be reading.

Justin “The Biebs” Bieber announced the dates for his upcoming North American tour, and he’ll be at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 8. Swaggy. Swag.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on June 2 at RoseQuarter.com and will run you between $39.50 and $79.50. The Justin Bieber Fan Club pre-sale will happen on May 23. The American Express pre-sale begins the next day, May 24, and lasts a week.

GQ recently sent Drew Magary to check in on Bieber has he prepares for the June 19 release of his fourth studio record, “Believe.” But Bieber wasn’t just prepping a new record, he’d just turned 18, and as Magary notes, 18 is a delicate time in a Teen Idol’s career. Things could go either way.

The handlers want this record to be a grown-up record, and well done there. “Boyfriend,” the record’s first single (and a big hit), includes our hero rapping the line, “I could be your Buzz Lightyear.”

And adult women swoon.

He also keeps saying swag. And swaggy. If you don’t read a word of Magary’s profile, you should at least click over there for the 3-second soundbite of Bieber saying, “I’m 18 years old and I’m a swaggy adult.”

In a way, Bieber comes out of the profile not unlike Tiger Woods in the famous 1997 piece Charles P. Pierce wrote for Esquire. Everyone wanted Woods to be one thing, while he was still a kid, a kid who told bad, off-color jokes. This is what kids do.

Magary makes note of a few moments that make publicists cringe, but they’re probably also the only genuine moments he sees in the few days he’s hanging around. Bieber might be 18, but he’s a kid — who’s had a profoundly different childhood than all but a few in the history of the planet. No matter how the handlers dress him up, and no matter how many adults they put next to him on the record, no matter how they change his hair–, that isn’t going to change.
