Justin Bieber Gives Septuagenarian Belieber the Will to Go On

Thursday, July 5th, 2012 | Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber doesn’t just drive teenage girls into a frenzy; his influence is far more broad than that. The Biebs also serves as an inspiration to perhaps his oldest fan, 71-year-old Peter Johngren.

Johngren has been battling colon and prostate cancer for years. As a result of his medical issues, he has traded his love of backpacking and skiing for a life of going in and out of the hospital and walking with the aid of two canes. Johngron hasn’t given up, however; his love of Bieber’s music helps to give him the will to go on.

The retired doctor and grandfather says Bieber is “so full of life that it somehow counters my thoughts of death. While I may have one foot out the door, Justin has just entered the room and it’s a reminder of how exciting and precious life is.”

Since Johngren first discovered Justin Bieber’s music in 2009 while surfing the web between chemotherapy treatments, the septuagenarian Belieber has collected an impressive amount of Bieber memorabilia and has even gone to see the Biebs in concert with his wife. Of the concert, Johngren says, “it was unbelievably terrific!”

Peter Johngren now follows Justin’s activities on Twitter and continues to listen to the pop star’s tunes to keep his spirits up. “[Bieber] helps me see how great life is, and restores my faith in humanity,” he says.
