Newly single singer Katy Perry — dazzling in a sparkling red-sequin dress and big smile as she cavorts with a group of servicemen in this week’s Parade magazine — will help light up the annual Macy’s Fourth of July extravaganza this week. The “Part of Me” crooner, whose 2010 hit “Firework” makes her an apt choice for the Independence Day bash, won’t have to worry about Mother Nature ruining her gig, though; her performance was taped May 23 in front of 2,000 military personnel, just for the NBC telecast. Rain is a real threat for the rest of us, however, according to AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines.
The Fourth will bring another hot, humid day to the tri-state area, with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees and a storm front expected to arrive in the late afternoon or early evening.
