Katy Perry premieres ‘The One That Got Away’ video: Singer transforms into old woman, recalls heartbreak with Diego Luna
Katy Perry doesn’t seem like her usual self.
The singer trades in her bubble gum hair for a much more mature look in her moody new video, “The One That Got Away,” which she premiered Friday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
The video shows Perry as a wrinkled, white-haired old woman ruminating over a past romance with a young artist, played by actor Diego Luna.
A montage of scenes flashes back to a much-younger Perry as she romps around with her painter boyfriend, snapping photos and swinging each other around at a party that looks straight out of the ‘60s.
In one shot, Luna etches a heart-shaped tattoo on an enamored Perry’s wrist — one that she reveals she still has in her old age.
But then everything takes a depressing turn for the worst. The couple gets in a fight and Luna leaves Perry behind.

As Perry cries by herself, Luna gets in a car and drives away along the mountainous country side — only to accidentally drive off the side of cliff while trying to swerve his mustang around boulders blocking the road.
The video ends with the older Perry visiting the site of the accident while Johnny Cash’s “You Are My Sunshine” plays in the background.
It’s a far cry from the campy, colorful dance videos the singer’s known for.
Perry told DeGeneres she hopes the video will help make “The One that Got Away” her sixth straight No. 1 single.
She also announced she will be holding a free concert for fans at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Nov. 23.
