Kylie Jenner Makes Runway Debut And Kardashians Show Up For Avril Lavigne’s Abbey Dawn Show

When a musician shows a line at Fashion Week, it’s like the heavens opened up and cascaded down a rain of perfect MTV Style situations. When a musician who shows a fashion line ALSO dates an MTV Star and he/she PLUS mega-watt reality TV star family all roll up in attendance, our brains explode all over the place, and we throw up our arms saying we’re quitting the Internet, but really, it’s the perfect storm for everything that turns the cogs of this here operation, so we sneak back to our keyboards to type with matchless vigor. And so, a hyperbolic long-winded intro leads you into our recap of Avril Lavigne‘s Abbey Dawn Style360 New York Fashion Week show.

Droves of angsty smokey-eyed models with spray-dyed neon tips strutted hard down the runway at the Abbey Dawn. Clad in rugged jackets, graphic prints (please PLEASE stop and appreciate that skull print formed from safety pins), muscle tanks, and slashed jeans and scored by a soundtrack of ALL of Avril’s most up-tempo jams, watching the show felt like taking a tour of my closet circa 2002 (but with the addition of studded heels and printed booties). It was all very “AWWwww!” and nostalgic and endearing. The models were not of the stoically smizing antelope variety but were cheeky and full of attitude, throwing up the sign of the horns and blowing kisses to the media risers at the end of the catwalk. Naturally. Anything less wouldn’t have fit the mood. It’s clear that Avril wanted to make the presentation more of a fashion show/concert hybrid, and with all the star power and subsequent squealing teenage fans the soiree pulled in, it wasn’t hard to achieve.

Kylie Jenner, younger sister to Avril’s boyfriend, Brody Jenner, walked in the show, and her much-anticipated runway debut not only brought out swarms of Kardashian/Jenner FANS but (almost) the whole Kardashian clan! Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries, and Brody Jenner all sat front row at the show to cheer Kylie and Avril on, and upon arrival were met by the obligatory mouth-breathing flashbulb mob as is customary for the famous fam (see Fashion’s Night Out at DASH Soho for further example).

Kylie wore three looks in the Abbey Dawn show. The first was a black “Smile” muscle tank (which calls out not only to Avril’s single “Smile”, but also to the ol’ Nirvana smiley face logo) paired with a Union Jack graphic mini-skirt, micro fishnets, and RED. PLAID. STUDDED. PEEPTOE. BOOTIES. So insane in all the best ways. Her second look was a white shoulder-less tee featuring an azure tromp l’oeil sailor’s scarf worn with black leggings and the same reality-bending plaid boots. For her final look, Avril dressed Kylie in a black tulle skirted dress with a bit of a sweetheart neckline, black platform t-strap heels covered in an iridescent star print, and a studded belt across the waist to toughen up the look.
