Addicted to You is the fifth track to be taken from her 2010 Spanish language album Sale el Sol.
She previously told the New York Times about the album: ‘It’s like I found myself again. You get influenced by everything you hear on the radio, or maybe by what you feel that other people’s expectations are.

Shakira, who is dating footballer Gerard Pique, added: ‘We all go through hard moments. Whatever happened, it’s right there in the the songs.
‘I’ve decided that I’m not going to explain every song this time. It’s hard to explain a song. These songs explain me better than I can explain them.’
