The She Wolf, who suffered a bitten hand in an encounter with “the beast”
while on holiday in South Africa earlier in the week, consoled herself by
hanging out with penguins instead.

And she found the flightless birds at Boulder Beach a little easier to handle.

She wrote on her Facebook page: “Today with the penguins! Definitely
friendlier!”

On Monday the Hips Don’t Lie star posted a “special report” on the sea lion
attack from her Cape Town holiday.

And she revealed she was rescued by her brother, “Super Tony.”

She said: “This afternoon I happened to see some sea lions and seals. I
thought how cute they were so decided to get closer than all of the other
tourists and went down to a rock.

“Suddenly, one jumped out of the water so fast that it got about one foot
away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me.

“Everyone there screamed, including me. I was paralysed by fear and
couldn’t move, “I just kept eye contact with it while my brother ‘Super
Tony’ jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the
beast.

“We both got our hands and legs scratched by the rocks while trying to
protect ourselves.

“I believe it confused the reflection of the BlackBerry phone I was
taking pics with, with some sort of fish. It thought I was teasing it with
food.”

The Columbian star, who celebrated her 35th birthday on Thursday, had a
bitemark on her palm after the attack.

But she carried on enjoying the sunshine holiday with her pals, and a few
penguins.

She showed off her perfect figure as she larked around in the water with a
female friend and Tony, getting a ride on his shoulders.

And she had a close encounter of the primate kind, tweeting: “A baboon on our
car! The animal kingdom is revolutionized today!”

Later, she showed concern for another local sea creature who seemed to be in
trouble.

She tweeted: “View from my hotel room. There’s a wounded dolphin stuck on the
beach. I hope they can get him back in the ocean soon.”

As Shakira recovered from the crazed sea lion attack, boyfriend Gerard Pique
was dealing with his own narrow escape.

The Barcelona player was in a car crash on his way to training at the city’s
Camp Nou on Monday.

While the driver’s side of his car was caved in, the Spanish star walked away
with minor injuries.

But he was missed out of the squad for a Champions League match against Bayer
Leverkusen on Tuesday night.

The couple will certainly have a lot to talk about when they get together
again.
